"I wish I knew how to find the right mentor". Words that are all too often muttered by people but never really followed up on. For a lot of people, this statement resides in the same ball park as "oh, I wish I could just win the lotto". It's more wishful thinking than anything else. It really doesn't have to be.
In this short piece not only will I explain what the right mentor should be but also how you can spot the right mentor when you come across him/her. Which, if I had to guess I would say that's the only reason you are reading this article, right?
Ok, so why is it important to find the right mentor? There are many reasons.
Firstly they are there as a guide. Someone who is already after going down the path that you are only taking your first few steps onto. They have made the mistakes that you will want to avoid. Therefore when you find the right mentor he/she will pretty much take you by the hand and walk with you every single step of the way ensuring that you don't waste your time on pointless exercises' and making the mistakes that they once made on there road to success.
You need to find a mentor that speaks to you in straight up easy to understand English. Presuming you are wanting to set up an online business. There is so much to learn and from what I have seen the majority of 'mentors' on the web simply spit information at you like you are a veteran of the online industry. You simply have no idea what they are saying. While the most of the time this isn't actually their fault, they are simply none the wiser, it is important that you find someone who has that uncanning ability to break even the most complicated of tasks down to bite sized, easy to understand bits of information, hence Finding the RIGHT mentor!!
-> So how do you find the right mentor??
One of the things you will want to do is find someone who has had significant success in the field you want to get into. The more successful that person is the greater the resource he/she will be to you. Basically how you could do this is simply Google that persons name! If they have received a notable award in a category that relates back to helping people or providing a good service then you are onto a real winner!
-> How do you find them in the first place I hear you asking?
The easiest way you can do this is to visit websites related to your line of work. All you do is Google "your line of work" and you will get thousands of results - the best results aren't always the first few! Simply take some time to look through the websites, jot down some names that appear to be appropriate to what you are looking for and then you have a list of potential mentors!!
Picking the right mentor is as equally as important as finding the right path you wish to take. Simply put the right mentor makes the whole process of learning much much easier. Even if it takes you a whole day, is it not worth it? like to longevity of a house a sustainable business must be built on solid foundation.
* This is a step that is over looked by so many people, but taken by so many successful people! *
