Courageous, a new movie about fatherhood is set to debut on September 30.? The movie?stars Ken Bevel, who also played in Fireproof.? Bevel, who portrays Nathan Hayes in the movie, spoke about overcoming personal obstacles to become a father.? After?he and his wife were unsuccessful at pregnancy,?doctors informed them that?they?only had a fifty percent chance of ever having children.? They prayed about their personal situation, and were later??blessed to have two beautiful children,? Bevel adds.? Bevel had a 20 year career in the United States Marine Corps, and now serves on the pastoral staff of Sherwood Baptist Church.? Speaking?of his new character Nathan, he said: ?We both desire to live Godly lives while honoring family commitments.? I like that he is determined to guide his family spiritually.? In addition, we both had male role models that weren?t our dads who introduced us to Christ.?
Another African-American actress, Eleanor Brown plays in the movie.? Portraying Kayla Hayes, Nathan?s wife in the movie, Brown said of her character, ?I like that Kayla is very supportive of her husband as she strives to be a godly wife and mother. Kayla is very family oriented?her heart is there with them. I love my family very much and draw strength from their support and encouragement.?
Tony Dungy, former NFL player and legendary coach?talked about?the movie and fatherhood, saying:??If your kids know you care about them and you?re doing your best to show you love them, that makes you a great dad.?? Dungy?was the first African-American coach to win the Superbowl.? Dungy?and his wife?Lauren have raised seven children of their own, and he?has served as a mentor to many NFL athletes, including Michael Vick who faced challenges stemming?from his dog fighting conviction.??Dungy also?faced personal trials as a father when his teenage son Jamie?committed suicide in 2005.
